  • How does it work?

    Any time you cross paths with another MySphere – Instant Networking member in real life, their profile will appear on your Timeline. Profiles that match your search criteria will be shown at the top. The app shows you other professionals who are close to your location (within a 5-kilometer radius), whether or not you have met before.

    If you come across a professional you would like to meet in real life:

    1. You can initiate a “contact request”
    2. If they accept it, you will get an immediate notification and you will be able to chat using the app’s messaging feature
    3. You may then decide to meet outside of the MySphere – Instant Networking platform.
    4. As you move around, MySphere - Instant Networking will notify you in real time if you cross paths with new people whose profiles match the search criteria you have laid out. You can modify these preferences at any time.

    MySphere – Instant Business Networking is useful for professionals interested in:
    - General networking: meet other inspiring professionals
    - HR: recruit or be recruited
    - Finding new clients or suppliers, or simply developing your network

  • Where can I download the app?

    The MySphere – Instant Networking app is available for download for free on the Apple App Store (iOS 7.1 or later) and the Google Play store (Android 4.0.3 or later).

  • How do I sign up and log in?

    Download the app on your mobile phone or tablet, then log in via your LinkedIn or Facebook account, or create an account manually (walk-through provided directly in the app).

  • Will the app post to my Facebook page?

    No, MySphere – Instant Networking will never post anything to your LinkedIn or Facebook wall. We promise!

  • Can I sign up for MySphere – Instant Networking without a LinkedIn or Facebook account?

    Connecting through LinkedIn and Facebook is not required for creating a MySphere – Instant Networking account or using the service.
    However, connecting through LinkedIn or Facebook makes the sign-up process easier for you, and helps us prevent fake accounts. You can create a MySphere – Instant Networking account “manually” by filling out the requested information by hand.

  • Do I need to grant MySphere – Instant Networking access to all of my information on LinkedIn or Facebook?

    If you do not grant MySphere – Instant Networking access to your LinkedIn or Facebook account information, you are increasing your chances of having erroneous information on your MySphere profile, which could negatively impact the app’s performance. If there is incorrect information on your profile, you can always modify it in your profile settings menu. Periodically, check to be sure your profile information is up to date.

  • Does the app work without an Internet connection?

    You must be connected to the Internet (wifi/3G/4G) for the app to work.

  • How old do I have to be to sign up for a MySphere – Instant Networking account?

    MySphere – Instant Networking is an app for professionals 18 years of age or older.

  • How do I log out?

    You can log out by clicking “Log out” in the “Settings” menu.
    Once logged out, you will no longer receive notifications and will not be visible to other members.

  • What personal information does MySphere – Instant Networking use to create my profile?
    1. LinkedIn
      To create your profile, MySphere – Instant Networking uses your most recent LinkedIn profile picture, your first and last name, your occupation, the company you work for, your date of birth, and your gender. MySphere – Instant Networking also consults LinkedIn to find connections you have in common with other members.
    2. Facebook
      To create your profile, MySphere – Instant Networking uses your most recent Facebook profile picture, your first name, your date of birth, and your gender. MySphere – Instant Networking also consults Facebook to find friends and interests you might have in common with other members.

    To benefit fully from our app, make sure that the information you share on LinkedIn or Facebook is correct. You will be asked to manually fill in any fields that were not found on LinkedIn or Facebook.

  • What happens if I uninstall MySphere – Instant Networking?

    If you delete the app from your mobile phone, your location will no longer be updated and you will no longer be able to find or be found by potential connections. Deleting the app will not delete your account. The next time you log in from any smartphone, you will find your account just as you left it.

  • How can I deactivate my account?

    Send a deactivation request via the “Chat Support” page. Your account will be deleted as soon as possible and you will receive a confirmation email when this process is complete.
    You can also use the contact form on our website to request that your account be deleted. Make sure to include the reason for your request. Deleting your account permanently erases your contacts, messages, and any other related information. You will not be able to recover the account once it has been deleted. Our Customer Service team will process your request as quickly as possible. Once your account has been deleted, you will receive a confirmation email at the address you provided when the request was made.

    Note: Deleting the app does not delete your account. If you delete your account, a new profile will be created for you using the personal information found on your LinkedIn or Facebook if you ever choose to activate a new account with us.

  • What will happen if I delete my LinkedIn or Facebook account?

    If you delete the profile you used to sign up, you will also lose access to your MySphere – Instant Networking account, and you will no longer be able to access your messages.

  • Who will show up on my home screen (Timeline)?

    Any time a professional member of MySphere - Instant Networking is found near your location, their profile will show up on your Timeline if they meet the search preferences you have defined. A person is considered “nearby” if they come within 5 kilometers of your location, whether or not you have met before. MySphere – Instant Networking puts the best matches, according to your search criteria, at the top of the list.

  • Who can see my profile?

    Users within a 5-kilometer radius of your location, or those who are using the “Explore Other Locations” feature in your area, can see your profile.

  • How can I find someone on MySphere – Instant Networking?

    To appear on your Timeline, a person must be logged in to the app, and either be within a certain radius of your location or match your search criteria. You cannot search for a specific user on MySphere – Instant Networking.

  • What does it mean when it says “Online” on someone’s profile?

    If it says “Online” on someone’s profile, it means that they are currently logged in to MySphere – Instant Networking or have used the app in the past 15 minutes. When a user is offline, you can see how long it has been since they last logged in.

  • I updated my search preferences but the profiles on my Timeline did not change.

    Your search preferences are applied automatically after you submit them. If no profiles are found near your location that match your new criteria, your Timeline will not change. You will receive a notification any time a profile that matches your new search criteria is found nearby.

  • The profiles that show up on my Timeline do not match my preferences.

    Make sure that you have refined your search criteria in the “My Preferences and Settings” section of your account, and verify that your profile information is up to date. The profiles that match your search preferences will show up at the top of your Timeline, along with the number of search criteria each user meets.
    If no profiles in your area meet your search criteria, you will be shown nearby user profiles that could be beneficial for general networking purposes.

  • Using the App
  • How do I interact with other profiles?

    To initiate communication with another app user, you first need to send the member a “contact request.” To do so, click the corresponding button on their profile. The user must accept your contact request before you can begin communicating via the app’s chat feature. You can check the status of your contact requests in the “My Invitations” tab in your app.
    When you receive a contact request, accept or decline based on whether or not you are interested in interacting with the user. If you decline, the user will not be notified.

  • How can I block someone?

    You can block a user at any time by clicking “Block this user” on their profile page.

  • What happens if I block someone?

    The person you block will not know that you have blocked them. They will no longer be able to see your profile or contact you through the app.

  • How can I report someone?

    You can block a user or report inappropriate conduct at any time by clicking the “Report this user” button either on the person’s profile or in the chat feature. Please be sure to specify the reason for your report so that our Customer Service team can best analyze the situation and take the necessary measures to respond.

  • I received a contact request. How do I accept it?

    You will receive a notification when someone sends you a contact request. Your requests appear in the “My Invitations” tab in your app.
    If you would like to accept the request, click on the notification to go to the user's profile, and click “Accept.” When you accept, the user will be notified and you will be able to communicate via the chat feature.

    Lots of professional opportunities are out there waiting for you; take the first step by initiating contact!

  • Can I cancel a contact request I sent?

    Yes, you can cancel a contact request at any time by clicking the contact button again.

  • I am not interested in one of the users that showed up on my Timeline

    If you are not interested in someone you matched with, you can decline their profile by clicking on the corresponding button. They will not be notified, and your profile will no longer show up on their Timeline, even if you cross paths again.

  • I do not want to be visible to certain types of users.

    In the settings menu, you can specify that you would not like to be visible to users in specific professions.

  • How can I initiate a conversation with a professional I am interested in meeting?

    You cannot engage directly in conversation with a user. Interest to communicate must be mutual, so the user has to accept your contact request before you can start chatting. Similarly, you must accept contact requests you receive from other users if you are interested in chatting with them.

  • I canceled a contact request that I sent, but now I have changed my mind. Can I resend it?

    You can view all of the contact requests you have sent in the “My Invitations” tab. The requests that you have canceled will show up in red. You can resend a request by clicking on it if you wish to do so.

  • Do my location services need to be on for MySphere – Instant Networking to work?

    The entire concept of MySphere – Instant Networking is based on connecting professionals who are geographically close to one another. In order for the app to find members near you, you need to activate your smartphone’s location services. If they are disabled, you will not receive new matches.

  • What does it mean if a user is “nearby” and how large is the radius?

    A person will be listed as “nearby” if they come within a 5-kilometer radius of your location.

  • Can other users see my exact location?

    The app shows you other professionals in a given radius (within 5 km of your location), whether or not you have met before. Your exact location is never visible to other users. Only the distance between you and another user, in meters or kilometers, is shown.

  • Is my location saved?

    We do not save your location. Your location is updated automatically when you open the app, and again every 15 minutes while the app is open.

  • Does the app have to be open in order to cross paths with other users?

    Your app does not need to be open in order to work properly. It will continue to look for business opportunities based on your search criteria in real time, even when the app is not open on your phone. As long as you are logged in, you will continue to receive notifications.

  • Does the app have to be open in order to find new matches?

    You do not need to keep the app open at all times for fear of a missed opportunity. As long as you are logged in and the app is running in the background, you will be notified of any new matches that meet your search criteria. These profiles will appear on your Timeline when you open the app.

    However, if your phone is turned off or set to “airplane mode,” you will not receive notifications and no new matches will show up on your Timeline. This is also the case if your location services are turned off.

  • Notifications
  • What kind of notifications will I get?

    Whenever you receive a “contact request” from another user, you will get a notification.
    You will also be notified if a contact request you sent to another user has been accepted.

    Finally, any time a profile that matches your search criteria is found nearby, you will receive a notification. You will receive notifications even if the app is not open, as long as it is running in the background and you are logged in.

  • Do users who are not currently online receive notifications?

    Yes. Users receive notifications even when the app is not open on their device, as long as they have a valid MySphere – Instant Networking account and are logged in.

  • How can I delete a notification?

    When you swipe from right to left on the notification, a list of quick actions will appear. Tap “Erase” to delete the notification

  • How can I disable push notifications?

    You can disable or enable push notifications from the “Settings” menu.
    Note that if you disable these notifications you will no longer be alerted when a professional opportunity arises near you, or when a user sends you a contact request.

  • My Profile
  • How do I fill in my profile?

    When you sign up using a LinkedIn or Facebook account, your profile will be completed automatically with the information found on these sites. Make sure that your information is complete and up-to-date. Even if your profile is completed automatically, you will be asked to enter your profession manually. It is important for this information to be correct and precise in order for the MySphere – Instant Networking app to work properly.
    In addition to your general occupation, you can also add hashtags (#) with more specific information about your skills. For example, you are a designer who specializes in #packaging #corporate visual identity and #illustration.

    Users who choose to create an account that is not linked to a LinkedIn or Facebook profile must complete their profile by hand.

  • How can I add a description to my profile?

    If you would like other professionals and MySphere – Instant Networking users to know more about you, you can add information about your work experience, education, passions and hobbies, etc. to your profile in the “My Account” tab. This additional information could help your profile stand out for recruitment, prospection, or networking purposes.

  • How can I change my profile picture?

    When you sign up for a MySphere – Instant account using LinkedIn or Facebook, your current profile picture from these sites is imported automatically. You can change it by clicking the “Photo” button to the bottom right of your picture. From there, upload a new picture from your camera roll or take a new picture (selfie). If you do not add a picture to your profile, a neutral icon will be added by default.

  • How can I hide personal information?

    You can hide your last name and profile picture in the “Settings” menu. A neutral icon will replace your profile picture, and only the first letter of your last name will be visible to other users.

  • Search Criteria Settings
  • How can I change my matching preferences?

    This is a crucial step in ensuring a positive MySphere – Instant Networking experience, because it helps our program show you the profiles that you want to see.

    You will be prompted to complete this step when you initially sign up, but you can update your preferences at any time from the app’s main menu or from the link underneath your profile picture (top left corner) on your Timeline.

    Possible search criteria, ranked by order of importance:
    Profession, field, company. The goal is to perform the most specific searches possible. Our algorithms also take other factors into consideration, such as shared interests or hobbies, mutual friends, proximity, and availability, in order to provide you with the best possible matches.

    The number of matching criteria is listed under each profile on your Timeline. You can see exactly which of your criteria a user matches on their profile.

    If none of the users in your area match your criteria, all nearby users will be displayed.

    Once you have defined your preferences, you will be notified any time you cross paths with a user who meets these criteria.

  • How can I become invisible to other users?

    To activate “invisible” mode, go to “My Preferences and Settings” and disable your location services. You will not show up in any searches when you are “invisible.” This also means that you will not match with any new users during this time, and no new profiles will appear on your Timeline. However, you can continue to interact and communicate with contacts that have been established previously.

  • I can’t see any profiles on my Timeline.

    Make sure that you have the latest version of the app, that you have refined your search criteria in the “My Preferences and Settings” section of your account, and verify that you have a working Internet connection and that your location services are turned on. Then, close the app and restart it. If the problem persists, restart your device.

  • One of my contacts disappeared, or I got a notification but I don’t see a new message.

    If one of your contacts disappeared or you do not see a new message in the “My Conversations” tab despite receiving a notification, the person may have blocked you, or deactivated or deleted their MySphere – Instant Networking account. To be sure, close the app, restart it, and check again.

  • I am not matching with users in the correct location.

    Your phone may not be correctly updating your location. Make sure that you have the latest version of the app, that you are not signed into your MySphere – Instant Networking account on multiple devices, and verify that you have a working Internet connection and that your location services are turned on. If these solutions do not solve the issue, you can set your location manually in the “My Current Location” field on your Timeline. Then, try closing the app and restarting it. If the problem persists, restart your device.

  • I no longer see one of my contacts in my conversations.

    The contact may have deleted their account, deactivated their account, or blocked you.

  • Troubleshooting: Sign-Up and Log-In
  • I can’t sign in

    Check to make sure that you have the latest version of MySphere – Instant Networking, that you are connected to the Internet (Wi-Fi/3G/4G), that the account you used to sign up (LinkedIn or Facebook) for MySphere is still active, and that your username and password are correct. Log out of your LinkedIn or Facebook from the MySphere app and your web browser (cookies must be enabled) and then log back in.

    If the problem persists, try again later. If you are still unable to log in, send a message to our Customer Support team via the contact form at the bottom of each page of our website. Be sure to include an email address we can use to contact you and select your problem from the list, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • I lost my username or password for the LinkedIn/Facebook account I use to log into MySphere – Instant Networking.

    Unfortunately, without the login credentials for the account you used to sign up for MySphere – Instant Networking, we are unable to help you access the account.
    For help with these sites, consult LinkedIn's FAQ section or Facebook’s FAQ section. Once you have recovered your log-in information on these sites, reconnect to MySphere – Instant Networking.

  • I am logged in with an account (LinkedIn or Facebook) that is not mine.

    Log out of this account in the app, and log back in with the LinkedIn or Facebook account you used when you signed up.
